Beauty on a (Student) Budget

Here at Freshers Festival, we believe that internal beauty is the real route to happiness. However for many people, when you look good, you instantly feel better! That being said, it can sometimes be difficult to buy beauty products when working with a student budget. Here are some tips and tricks for getting beauty products on a student budget.

Sign up for your FREE Debenhams beauty card online

Debenhams will post a physical card out to you for free. Every so often (recently its been every 2 weeks or so), they give notifications of beauty freebie Friday! This means if you take your Debenhams beauty card to any Debenhams store at the beauty till, you can get a free beauty/makeup freebie! My fave gifts have been Chanel samples of lipstick, Dior perfume and Urban Decay setting sprays! Make sure you’re there early though as they run out pretty quickly.

Buy all your beauty items online & get cashback!

Cashback websites such as Topcashback (personal fave) & Quidco offer a certain percentage of cashback when you shop online. Although it may be only 3-5% (depending on the store), if you’re a beauty addict like me, those bits of cashback add up! Best of all, these are all free to sign-up to!

TIP #1: Have both accounts & check which site offers the best cashback depending on where you want to shop from.

TIP #2: You can even combine your Unidays/Student Beans discount and the cashback still works!

BODYSHOP £5 Birthday Voucher

Sign up online and for your birthday you get to spend £5 instore/online. I personally love the little scented hand creams and these are all £5 – meaning you get the hand cream completely free!

SPACE NK Beauty Gift

Sign up online and for your birthday you get a mini goody bag! The goodies here are all HIGH-END beauty products & a great size!

Kiehls “Recycle & Be Rewarded” Scheme

At Kiehl’s, if you recycle 10 full size beauty items (instead of just throwing them out), you can get a travel size item. This is a great incentive for getting free product whilst also helping the environment. Check out their scheme here.
